Information in this report is based on (a) assessments conducted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) on Savai’i in May 2012 as part of the in-country training of fisheries officers from the Samoa Fisheries Division and (b) the follow-up survey in Upolu by the trained team in July 2012.

The risks evaluated are extreme rainfall events (both six-hourly and daily), drought, high sea levels, extreme winds and extreme high air and water temperatures.

Climate risk profile assessment in the year 2007

This updated National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) sets out Samoa’s priorities for biodiversity conservation to 2020. It updates the original NBSAP (2001), building on that document and taking on board trends and issues reported in the Samoa State of Environment 2013 and the National Environment Sector Plan 2013 – 2016, as well as issues raised during the consultation process for the updated NBSAP.

The Strategy outlines the state of Samoa’s biological resources and actions to curb their degradation and achieve their sustainable development at the time. It is the country’s foremost expression of commitment to the Convention on Biological Diversity which it has ratified on the eve of the Convention’s accession.

A review of terrestrial biological knowledge for Samoa and identify gaps in existing biological information.
